We went away for a few days last week and boarded our cat.  Was he mad at us!  I took this shot whilst he was sulking in a corner after he got back.  It’s the feline version of a mean and moody portrait.  Despite the expression he really is a a rather lovable rogue. Well I think so although my husband begs to differ. His name is Montgomery, Monty for short. He’s named after a famous British World War II general.

Spring is here and as a last goodbye to this winter past I am showing my favorite personal winter portrait. It was taken in Vermont in December 2009. My daughter got up at daybreak to watch the first snow of the season falling. I woke up to find her sitting quietly in the corner of the hotel room with the drapes open just watching the flakes falling. There’s always something wonderful about the first snowfall each year whatever age you are. The portrait was taken using the available natural light.

 One of my favorite ages for photographing babies is the first year months when they give great eye contact and still have a lot of that baby charm. The perfect portrait milestones are 3-4 months, 6 months and 12 months.  To help parents not to miss capturing this unique and fleeting time in a child’s life we are extending free baby portrait sessions* at the studio for the month of April. Thinking about gifts for the holidays?

Short outdoor children’s mini sessions are now booking for the season. They are held weekday afternoons weather permitting. It’s a great chance to have some special portraits taken to make into gifts or cards for the family. These sessions are best for 1-3 children and can either focus on group or individual portraits. I photographed these three brothers last week and with a splash of orange in the background and some discovered apples on the grass, these portraits have a fall feel about them!

I just love these portraits! The girls looked fantastic their black dresses. The choice of dress color worked so well with the setting and worked perfectly to focus the viewer on the important aspects of the portraits-expression and togetherness.

We will be exhibiting at the Concord Fall Festival being held at The Old Manse this weekend. (October 10-13.)  The festival includes exhibits by other local artists, produce for sales by local farmers and artisans, poetry readings and lots more.

Mike is taking some time this fall to photograph landscapes. Recently he got up even earlier than the kids (that’s quite something) and spent some time in Concord. Here’s a couple of landscapes from his dawn session.

Here’s a preview of the albums I sell. They are a popular purchase at the moment and are a great addition to an order. The albums are handmade in black leather and come in a lined presentation box.   Albums are offered for 5×4, 7×5 and 10×8 prints.  Clients who spend $350 on prints can purchase albums at 10% off the a la carte price. 20%  and 30% discounts are also offered at other print purchase amounts.

My last entry prompted me to give you a bit more insight into my approach to high school senior shoots.

In many cases a senior session is booked because students need a portrait for the upcoming school yearbook. All the students I work with have reasonably relaxed school photo requirements with no specific poses or backgrounds.  During the one hour session we devote half the time to head and shoulder portraits.  The rest of the session concentrates on more environmental or arty images.  The end result is a proof gallery which has a great variety of photographs.  The students and their families always love what they see, buy portraits and comment on what a great memory it makes. After all, finishing high school and moving on to college is an important milestone and worth capturing with photos!

Maybe you have no choice but to go with a assigned school photographer for a standard required yearbook portrait.  No problem.  You can still consider booking a separate session with me which reflects your style. Modern traditional, urban chic or country casual… lots of possibilities for fun, fresh photos.
